A mutiny within the ranks was seen as responsible for the 2-0 loss Cool/Wazobia/ Nigeria Info FM suffered in the hands of Radio Nigeria Treasure FM on Match day 1 of the SWAN Henry Kalio Cup in Port Harcourt.

Stanley Nuoghalu and Okey Onwugbonu scored, one in each half to ensure the millionaire side from AIM plaza fell to an embarrassing loss.

The team sponsored by a Multinational company came in a branded bus and branded jerseys that they changed three times before the end of the game but still fell like a pack of cards.

Coach of the side, Ufuoma “Foskolo” Egbamuno described the result as unfortunate.

“We were just unlucky. We even hit the post; something that did not happen in the last edition.

“We entertained the crown though and I assure you that we will do better in our next game,” the self styled Pep Guadiola said.

But he refused to react to insinuations that there was infighting in the team and the players refused to play for him since he had lost the dressing room.

“I do not react to rumours,” he said and looked the other way.

However, there had been a battle for supremacy between himself and the head of Sports, Ngozi “Khalela” Ezeuduma who went on air last week to announce that Ufuoma had been sacked and she was taking over as manager of the side.

Just after the ill fated game kicked off, Egbamuno was said to have told a few colleagues that Khalela, his boss was late for the game and deserved to be suspended for at least one game.

Player/ Manager of Treasure FM, Benson Chiziebere Clement told ChinaAcheru.com that it was a fantastic result for his side.

“We came into the game with the mindset of getting all three points at stake and it happened that way.

“Also the win has given us the confidence heading into the next game against Wave FM on Tuesday,” Clement said.

“Finally, I wish to thank God for an injury free game and kudos to the boys for the victory as well.”

In the opening match of the day, a Francis Edoko strike was enough to give champions, Tide a 1-0 win over Wave FM in the opening match.

Tide top striker, Olalekan Igetold Chinaacheru.com that his side played well.

“First games are usually tough and we are happy to have won ours,” Ige said.

“As defending champions, we will take each match as it comes.”

Technical Manager of Wave FM, Queen John said she was not disappointed and has been searching for positives from the game ever since it ended.

“Their captain, Isaac Mbah had bragged about thrashing us and scoring more than they did in the first edition. In that game we lost 5-2.

“I’m sure they were left stunned at our display. We had a brilliant goalkeeper who made crucial decision and quality saves but poor communication led to that goal we conceded.

“We were also poor in our final third but we will work hard against our next game against Treasure FM,” Queen John said.

The highlight of the occasion was the presence of David Kalio, twelve year old son of the late Henry Kalio, who was guest of honour at the event.

In the opening game, Gabriel Nwanetanya of the Tide was voted MVP while Edward Ukpethu of Treasure FM was MVP for the 2nd game.

The next set of games will be played on Tuesday at the Sharks FC Stadium.

The Henry Kalio Cup is organised by Corporate PH6 and sponsored by Tush Sports, Steady Run, www.chinaacheru.com, Alexander Stephens IQ, Sanitz Consult, Admiralty Fleet, Rivers State Sports Ministry, Mainbowl International, Heightz Sports Solutions, WhiteFlannel Laundry and Dry Cleaning Services, Grenham Bar and Restaurant, Stadium road, Honourable Boma Iyaye, Honour Sirawoo, Sampson Fiberesima, Lekan Ige, Barrister Faye Dikio, Cyril Dum Wite, the Amanyanabo of Abonema, King Disreal Gbobo Bobmanuel, Callista Atogbo and Chukwudi Dimkpa
