Saturday, October 27, 2018 will be a memorable day for Moseph Ekine and Queen John as they hit the altar in Port Harcourt to say “I do” with marital vows renting the air.

Ekine who works with the BBC pidgin service and formerly owned Nigeria’s top football blog, www.NaijaFootballPlus.com will be saying “I do” to Queen John who is a senior correspondent with www.ACLSports.com, Nigeria’s leading online sports publication.

But how did this all start?

After her last break up in 2014, Queen John Ehlebi decided to focus on her job at Today 95.1 FM in Port Harcourt. She then moved to Wave 91.7 FM in Port Harcourt and got a job as Media Officer of the Rivers State Government owned Basketball Club, Rivers Hoopers.

Men were a no- no for her during that time but then she met Moseph at the stadium in June 2016.

Apparently using the old excuse that she needed a guest for her radio show, Moseph was invited over to the studio where he displayed a vast knowledge of the game (football).

She kept on inviting him over more regularly but apparently the invitations were no longer for sports broadcasting reasons because they became really good friends and started to hang out a lot.

“Moseph asked me out in January 2017 and after turning him down, I eventually accepted on July 1, 2017.

“We got engaged on February 17, 2018 and the rest as they say, is history,” Queen John told ChinaAcheru.com.

Moseph Ekine’s account of how it all began for them is not too different.

“I met Queen John at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium where she invited me to her show afterwards.

“I then began to like her work ethic, carriage and beauty as they caught my eyes. Now see where we are?” he said to ChinaAcheru.com.

The jobs that brought them together

Before Moseph got the BBC job, he had been employed as a reporter for the Port Harcourt Microsope.

After six months with the Microscope he was made Editor, but he was not originally a journalist as he studied Microbiology at the University of Port Harcourt and spent a few months working at the St. Patrick’s Hospital.

His passion called and then he enrolled at the University of Maiduguri to study journalism and then the Universitat Hamburg afterwards.

“Other jobs have followed but none as big as the BBC who came calling in 2017,” Moseph said.

Queen started her career with Today FM in Port Harcourt and then Wave FM before joining www.aclsports.com. She had also worked as Media Officer of the Rivers Hoopers Basketball Club.

On August 18, 2018, they were joined traditionally at the family home of Queen John at Ipaja in Lagos.

Who is Moseph Ekine?

Moseph Ekine is a Port Harcourt boy, born and bred in the capital of Rivers State.

He is the 5th child of seven and spent most of his formative years in the town of his birth, up to University level as well as his first few jobs when he started a career, first in the medical field, then in journalism.

Queen John?

She happens to be the fourth in a family of four and grew up in Lagos with her siblings.

She attended Queens Land Private School, Abule Ijesha, Yaba in Lagos and from there attended Government College, Ketu.

Though she studied the sciences there was an underlying passion for sporting activities like athletics and football as well as being a part of the Press Club.

She ended up as Senior Prefect in her school and finished in 2005.

In 2007 she left for the University of Calabar after trying to get into the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (Now Rivers State University) and the University of Ilorin UST in 2006 for a pre-degree program.

She studied Genetics and Biotechnology, graduated and returned to Lagos were she was asked to visit her cousin in Port Harcourt in 2012 November.

“After a few weeks I returned to Port Harcourt in April 2013 where I found a job as an intern at Today FM,” Queen told ChinaAcheru.com.

Certainly, Mr. and Mrs. John Awolo Ehlebi of Ijegu in Yala LGA of Cross Rivers State, and Pastor ThankGod Ekine and Mrs. Joy Ekine of Aminigboko, Abua/Odual in Rivers State will be proud of their children and will be the happiest people on earth, come October 27, 2018.
